چکیده
The decades-long use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) as replacements for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) by the and concrete industry is undergoing a resurgence in research activities related to goals addressing circular economy activities, well reduction CO2 emissions. Differences chemistry, mineralogy reactivity SCMs compared OPC impact fresh properties concrete. Some exhibit greater initial water uptake thus compete strongly with during hydration. This study focuses on early interaction primary factor that determines resulting workability. Currently, no test (standard or otherwise) available quantifying interactions between materials. A quick reliable method measure presented herein, which relies their affinity water. enables calculation water-to-binder ratios different required achieve same workability reference OPC. results are then correlated measured slump bleed properties. We propose this simple technique be used researchers practitioners better predict concretes, mortars, pastes SCMs.

EFFICIENCY FACTOR OF SUPPLEMENTARY CEMENTITIOUS MATERIALS: A STATE OF ART
The use of supplementary cementing materials is gradually increasing due to technical, economical, and environmental benefits. Supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) are most commonly used in producing ready mixed concrete (RMC). A quantitative understanding of the efficiency of SCMs as a mineral admixture in concrete is essential for its effective utilisation. The performance and effective...
متن کاملUsing Different Methods of Nanofabrication as a New Way to Activate Supplementary Cementitious Materials; a Review
Reducing the consumption of cement with simultaneous utilizing waste materials as cement replacement is preferred for reasons of environmental protection. Blended cements consist of different supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), such as fly ash, silica fume, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS), natural pozzolans, etc. These materials should be chemically activated to show effec...
متن کاملSelf-Sealing Cementitious Materials by Using Water-Swelling Rubber Particles
Water ingress into cracked concrete structures is a serious problem, as it can cause leakage and reinforcement corrosion and thus reduce functionality and safety of the structures. In this study, the application of water-swelling rubber particles for providing the cracked concrete a self-sealing function was developed. The feasibility of applying water-swelling rubber particles and the influenc...

Hydraulic activity refers to a property most familiar when discussing hydraulic cement such as ordinary portland cement (OPC). ASTM C125-15a defines hydraulic cement as “a cement that sets and hardens by chemical reaction with water and is capable of doing so under water.” That is, hydraulic cements, including SCMs that have hydraulic properties, react with water to harden, and that hardening p...

A Hysitron Triboindenter has been used to determine the mechanical properties of hardened cement paste and cement paste at the early age. This technique provides an in-situ scanning probe microscopy (SPM) imaging facility that allows pre and post-test observation of the sample. The same probe is used to indent and image eliminating the complicated situation of locating the same area with differ...
